Redesigned an existing article for improved legibility and visual interest.
The original article had a few challenges with typography and layout which I thought affected legibility and didn’t seem inviting to the reader. For the redesign, I aimed to improve the legibility and visual interest of the layout through a better use of callouts, pull-quotes, scale, color and negative space in order to establish greater contrasts throughout the pages.
I began by researching the magazine and its demographics to understand the audience I’m designing for. I then started selecting appropriate typefaces for the body copy and began laying out the body copy on the pages with an even typographic color. I also designed several pull-quotes to accompany the article. In the end, I came up with 3 different layouts for this article.
